TAFT-EVENT 26.02.2019

If you ask me what I love most about blogging, it´s the events. Meeting new people, talking, having fun. Usually there´s not only nice people, but also good food. And those two things are exactly what I check out first. But let´s start from the beginning.

Wenn man mich fragt, was ich am Bloggen am meisten liebe, ist meine Antwort immer dieselbe: Die Events. Neue Leute kennenlernen, mich unterhalten, vernetzen. Dazu gibt es meistens noch gutes Essen. Und genau das sind auch die beiden Sachen, die ich zuerst auschecke. Aber lasst uns von vorne anfangen.

How do I get ready for events ? Well that depends on the occasion -obviously- and the circumstances. If I got time and I feel like it, I might get a little dressed up. Some events also require that. Next week, for example I´m invited to an event taking place in a beautiful villa – I might go a little extra for that.
But also there are events where I just go after university, without doing anything out of the ordinary. As I said: it depends.

The Taft-Event was something in between. I did not dress up a lot, but since it was located in the candy museum, I did adjust my Outfit to that. I knew it was 90% pink, so I made sure to wear something that went fine with that. Also it was all about hair-products and the invitation already said that it would be possible to have it styled there. So I just figured they´d be better at it anyways and did not do my hair at all.

Wie mache ich mich für Events fertig ? Was ziehe ich an ? Eine der wichtigsten Fragen, die wir Mädels uns untereinander natürlich immer stellen. Eine allgemeine Antwort ? Gibt es nicht. Es kommt darauf an. Auf das Event, die Umstände. Wenn ich Zeit und Lust habe, putze ich mich natürlich gerne etwas heraus. Nächste Woche bin ich beispielsweise auf einem Event in einem Anwesen, einer wirklich traumhaften Location eingeladen, da mache ich mich dann wohl etwas „extra-ready“ 😉
Aber es gibt auch Events, zu denen ich einfach direkt nach Uni, etc gehe ohne mich irgendwie besonders fertig zu machen. Wie gesagt: es kommt drauf an.

Das Taft-Event war so ein Mittelding. Besonders schick gemacht habe ich mich nicht, da es aber im Candy Museum stattfand, von dem ich wusste, dass es zu 90 % rosa ist, habe ich mein Outfit angepasst.
Da es bei dem Event um Haarprodukte ging und in der Einladung schon etwas von Haarstyling stand, beschloss ich diesen Punkt beim Fertigmachen einfach zu überspringen und meine Haare vor Ort machen zu lassen

ARRIVING AT THE EVENT:

The event took place in my neighbourhood, so I just walked there, meeting Billy at my doorstep. As we arrived, we were offered to hang up our jackets and have a drink. Then we checked out the food -first things first.
I use check out the food first. Not only because I love food, but also because standing by the buffet usually gives me the chance to inconspiciously check out who`s there.

Do you know that awkward feeling when you missed to say „hi“ to someone you know only roughly ? I try to prevent that, so I like to use the buffet as an excuse to not directly stepping into the crowd and get an overview first.

At the taft event, I hardly new anyone. I had expected some „smaller“ bloggers to be there. I knew Verena and Christine were invited and figured it would be to much of a convenience if not half he bloggers of Cologne were invited, but two of the ones I know best.
Well, I was wrong. And since Verena and Christine couldn´t come, I did not know anyone (instead of Billy-obviouly). I made that sound as if it was horrible. It actually wasn´t. If you like talking to people, talking to strangers, as I do, it´s none of a problem. Even if not it usually is pretty easy, to start a conversation at such events.
Also Billy knew Gina, so I met her and her friend, Jana.

Of course there were also some more famous bloggers. Riccardo Simonetti, who I had met on some events before, Ffranzy and lejannik, were the first ones I saw who I knew without actually knowing them ;).

Das Event fand in meiner Nachbarschaft statt, also ließ ich mich von Billy abholen und wir gingen zu Fuß dahin. Dort angekommen ging der erste Gang zu Buffet. Nicht nur, weil ich essen liebe sondern auch, weil es meistens die perfekte Gelegenheit ist sich einen Überblick zu verschaffen.

Kennt ihr das, wenn ich jemanden nur flüchtig kennt und dann den richtigen Moment verpasst „hallo“ zu sagen ? Ich hasse es und versuche dem so vorzubeugen :p

Auf dem Taft-Event kannte ich fast niemanden. Naja, nicht so richtig jedenfalls. Es war so der ein oder andere größere, bekannte Blogger da. Riccardo Simonetti, Ffranzy, Lejannik,..

Um ehrlich zu sein hatte ich erwartet, dass mehr „kleinere“ Blogger da sind, da ich wusste, dass Verena und Christine eingeladen waren. Wenn 2 von den Bloggern, die ich am besten kenne eingeladen sind, muss doch statistisch gesehen halb Köln eingeladen sein oder ? Nope, ich kannte (außer Billy natürlich) niemanden.

Das war allerdings halb so schlimm, wie es sich anhört. Wenn man gerne neue Leute kennenlernt (wie ich ;), sind solche Events die perfekte Gelegenheit um ins Gespräch zu kommen. Außerdem kannte Billy noch jemanden. So lernte ich Gina & Jana kennen.

WHAT TO DO AT A BLOGGEREVENT:

What else do you do at such an event…? Other than eating and talking ?

Well, companies usually host events to present a certain product. However, you obviously don´t have a duty to advertise the product. I would not recommend something I don´t like, which is why I´ll have a closer look on the products and see whether I want to try them or not. What I usually do is mention the purpose of the event in my Instagramstory.

The Taft-Event was all about new hairproducts, that smell like candy. I have to admit that so far, I´ve only tried the hairspray and dry shampoo, which is definetely better than the one I used before ! I am definetely no expert when it comes to hairproducts (as I said, I can barely curl my hair) but I can tell so much 😀

Of course we usually take pictures. So obvious, I nearly fotgot to mention is :p

Aber was macht man jetzt eigentlich auf so einem Bloggerevent – außer zu essen und sich zu unterhalten ?

Eigentlich geht es in der Regel um Produkte, die Firmen beworben haben möchte. Es ist aber nicht so, dass wir die ganze Zeit damit verbringen. Meistens schaue ich mir die Produkte einmal in Ruhe an und gucke, ob sie zu mir passen und ich sie ausprobiere möchte. Die Produkte zu bewerben ist natürlich keine Pflicht. In der Regel zeige ich in meiner Instagram Story einmal weshalb wir da sind. Bevor ich sie tatsächlich bewerbe, muss ich sie natürlich erstmal ausprobieren und das mache ich auch nur, wenn sie mir wirklich gefallen.

Bei dem Taft-Event ging es um eine neue Reihe von Haarprodukten, die -passend zum Candymuseum- nach Candy riecht. Ich muss zugeben, dass ich von der „Casual-Chic“-Reihe bis jetzt nur das Haarspray und das Trockenshampoo benutzt habe (wie gesagt: ich bin wirklich kein Haarprofi und schaffe es nicht mal mir anständige Locken zu machen :D), aber einen kleinen Vergleich bekomme ich hin: das Trockenshampoo ist eindeutig besser als das, was ich vorher hatte 😀

Natürlich werden auch immer fleißig Bilder gemacht – so selbstverständlich, dass ich fast vergessen hätte es zu erwähnen :p
